Genetic Differences in Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Alpha Gene in Endurance Athletes (Long Distance Runners) and Power/Endurance Athletes (Wrestlers, Football Players)

چکیده
Introduction: Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha gene plays an important role in the expression of genes involved fatty acid, glucose, and energy metabolism. PPARα intron 7 G/C polymorphism (rs4253778) is one associated with athletic performance. This study aimed to investigate genotype distribution allele frequencies endurance-oriented athletes (long-distance runners) power/endurance-oriented (wrestlers football players) (n=158) non-athletic individuals (n=56).
Material Methods: was analyzed using polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length methods. Results: Genotypes were compared between (wrestlers, categorized according their sport disciplines. In addition, individuals. The similar groups athlete (p˃0.05). There no statistically significant association among athletes, Conclusion: may not be considered as a distinctive genetic marker endurance mixed

Objective(s): Herbal medicines are promising cancer preventive candidates. It has been shown that Punica granatum L. could inhibit angiogenesis and tumor invasion. In this study, we investigated whether the anti-angiogenic effect of pomegranate peel extract (PPE) is partly attributable to Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) activation in the Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cell...

The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) is a ligand-activated transcription factor involved in the regulation of a variety of processes, ranging from inflammation and immunity to nutrient metabolism and energy homeostasis. PPARα serves as a molecular target for hypolipidemic fibrates drugs which bind the receptor with high affinity. Furthermore, PPARα binds and is activated...

Weight-bearing exercise has been recognized widely to be beneficial for long-term bone health. However inherent differences in bone-loading characteristics and energy expenditure during participation in endurance sports place many endurance athletes at a relative disadvantage with regard to bone health compared with other athletes. Adolescents and adults who participate in endurance sports, suc...

The peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPAR) is a member of the steroid/hormone receptor superfamily that mediates the peroxisome proliferator-dependent transcriptional activation of genes encoding several peroxisomal and microsomal enzymes as well as peroxisome proliferation. Human liver is refractory to the pathological effects of peroxisome proliferators that are seen in mice....
